Susan turned her attention back to the stove and her dinner preparations.
“Tell me”, he asked again. She knew this day would come.
“I’ve heard rumors, is it true?”, he demanded. “Are you seeing another band?”
“Yes, YES!”, she blurted out. ”And they’re GOOD!”
The words stung like a thousand fire ants. Sammy the dog stared in bewilderment and possibly hunger.
”But what about all our favorite songs?”
“I’ve got NEW songs!”
In a fit of rage he picked up the loaded Walther PPK she kept on the table for cooking emergencies and pointed it at her.
“If we can’t have you, NO BAND will”, he said, then pulled the trigger. She crumbled to the floor. Realizing what he had done, he lifted her arm, which was as limp as her hair. Filled with remorse, he picked up the nearest spatula and beat himself unconscious. Then all were consumed in a fire of unknown origin, except for Sammy, who walked outside and chased a squirrel.
